Author guidelines

Manuscript preparation guidance for prospective JBBS authors. Prepare your manuscript, then use the online submission form to upload it to the editorial office.

Submit online: Upload an anonymized manuscript and a separate title page through the manuscript submission form. The format guidance below is provisional while the inaugural issue is prepared.

Publication charge: There is no fee to submit or undergo peer review. An accepted article is invoiced after acceptance at PKR 15,000 for billing in Pakistan or USD 55 elsewhere. Read the fee policy.

Prepare your files

  1. Separate title page. Include the article title, author names and affiliations, ORCID iDs, corresponding author email, funding, conflicts of interest and author contributions.
  2. Anonymized manuscript. Remove author names, acknowledgements and identifying file properties from the review file.
  3. Supporting material. Prepare a cover letter and any supplementary files needed to understand the work.
  4. Ethics and disclosure checks. Confirm originality, authorship, ethical approval where relevant, data availability and AI use.

Manuscript format

Text and files

The provisional format is Microsoft Word, Times New Roman 12 point, double spacing and 1-inch margins.

Abstract and keywords

Provide a 200–250 word abstract describing purpose, method, findings and contribution, plus 5–7 keywords.

References

Use APA 7th edition. Check every in-text citation against the reference list and include DOI information when available.

Tables and figures

Number and refer to each table and figure, use clear titles and provide editable tables where possible.

Article types

The draft guidelines list indicative lengths. These will be finalized before editorial decisions.

Declarations

Authors should prepare statements on originality, each author's contribution, conflicts of interest, funding, data availability and any use of generative AI. Research involving human participants should describe ethical approval and informed consent where applicable.
